Sts. Peter & Paul Church

LDS Archival Record Images

In the late 1960’s, an LDS archivist visited Sts. Peter & Paul Church and photographed the record registers. Those images remain available as FamilySearch Catalog Film # 008116688, Item 7 (images 541-755). The records consisted of handwritten pages in several commercially printed church register books. Many records are abstracts of record entries from earlier books, many have sections of unused pages in them. Record keeping was not past priests’ forte’, and the records have to be taken in context with the times.

Early Records:

  • Baptisms – 1884 – 1922 – 105 images (including index pages) of a dedicated Baptism Register; entries numbered 1-618.
  • Baptisms – 1922 – 1946 – 42 images (no index) of a second dedicated Baptism Register; entries numbered 619-902.
  • Confirmations – 1900 – 1945 – 8 images of pages 44-58 in an unspecified lined-page register, the handwritten accounts of the progress of each class after 1919, and includes a single page of the original register from 1900.
  • Marriages – 1893 – 1946 – 35 images (including index pages) of pages 1-25 of a replacement Marriage Register; several skipped blank pages.
  • Deaths – 1894 – 1946 – 12 images consisting of register pages 45-48 (1894-1908) recounting entries from the replaced register, and pages 1-8 of the replacement death register (1908-1946).

Later Records

  • Baptisms – 1946 – 1954 – 15 images (including index pages) of a dedicated Baptism Register.
  • First Communion/Confirmations – 1947 – 1954 – 4 images detailing several groups over several years.
  • Marriages – 1946 – 1953 – 3 images of marriages and several more of the index pages.
  • Deaths – 1947 – 1954 – 4 images of a dedicated Death Register.
